I have a pair of Yamaha speakers. I thought they were blown as they were rattling at high volumes and did not seem to sound as good as they used to. When I took off the back cover I noticed that some of the back screws were slightly loose, as were a couple of the speaker bolts I'm assuming fixing these problems will help. Here is my problem.
The speakers are very "bright" sounding with very little midrange and the adjustable crossover has very little affect on the sound.
What do you suggest I do?
Thanks in advance for your help

I assume these are "Pro" cabinets of some sort.
Well, it is hard to say without knowing more about which "bolts" are loose. It's possible that the high frequency drivers themselves have loose bolts, in which case the diaphragm is sort of rattling around inside the driver. This could cause screechy sound, and definitely cause rattles.
Probably needs a careful tightening rather than just slapping a nutdriver to them. If the diaphragm isn't seated correctly, then it could get squished into place out of alignment.
If you're just talking about the wooden cabinets themselves, then likely you won't see much improvement in the screechiness, though it could help some rattles.
Likely not much you can do to fix the bright sound, without really knowing what you're doing.

Hey Gary,
what model Yammies do you have? Are you saying that the speaker sounded nice and balanced before, but now they sound bright? If it's a 3-way, maybe the midrange driver is blown.

Use a 31 band EQ. They're mandatory for pro-sound.

These are Yamaha S41154H speakers. Lately they have not sounded as well as they used to.
I am wondering. How do you tell if a speaker is blown? are the cones torn? other than sound. they look fine.....
