At work we were experiencing all kinds of USB issues with our Smart Boards, USB Powered Speakers, keyboards, mice and so-on. What we found in different versions of Windows was that the USB would not come out of Sleep/Standby mode and this was affecting a lot of different USB devices.
We remedied this issue by changing the power management behavior of the Universal Serial Bus controllers as well we disabled the Hibernation feature by doing so has lessened our USB related issues by tenfold.
I thought I would post our findings as I’m sure in the past I read some posts about USB sound card issues, USB Dac issues and many WT2 & WT3 issues, something to think about?
Google Windows USB Sleep Problems for your particular OS version and you will find answers on how to keep your USB awake.
Here is an example link for Windows XP!
