Ok I am moving into my new house in a few weeks. My great room is where I will put my HT set up in, the room size 20"x 13.5", 2 short walls with 1 long wall, and the with a open area that is pretty open to the ktichen and dinning area. I am looking into the Zaph kits, ZA5.5 as mains,ZA5.3 MTM for rear surround and the ZA5.3 CC. I am hoping that the room size with the speakers I have chosen should work fine, I am not sure, also I am using a paradigm pw1200 sub right now. But I am wanting to take my D3's and paradigm sub and put them in my master bedroom, so I am needing to go with a new sub for my great room, I am really wanting to build a coffee table that doubles as my HT sub, this would be almost centerd in the room and not sure how the performance would be. also thought of 4 subs to be place in the corners of the room. just not sure what would be the best option. if I went with the coffee table box this would work great, as far as pulling double duty. any thoughts???? on sub and the zaph kits?

The Zaph designs are well thought out and I'm sure you wouldn't find anything not to like. AFA the coffee-table sub, as long as the XO frequency is kept low, you shouldn't have any issues with localizing the sub. In my limited opinion, I think if you have the budget for 2 or more subs, you could get better performance, bass response and overall SQ with multiple subs. Which is known to deal with room nodes much better. I've seen some excellent examples of coffee-table type subwoofers on the forum, possibly even a build thread. Maybe a search could turn up some designs. Good luck, let us know what you decide.

I built a Fitzmaurice Table Tuba which is a big end table placed in rear corner of listening area. Great performance. Most people will tell you that a sub in the middle of the room is not optimal.

If I was building HT speakers, I would probably build those Zaphs.

well the way the room is laid out I only have 1 corner of the rm to work with or 3 walls, i have thought of building 2 enclosures for subs and use them as speaker stands for the front mains and still use a sub behind the main listing seat or still as the coffee table, I am up for options, dont mind th multiple sub set up but get the best bang for the buck, was looking at the dayton reference subs 15's or the 12's.
