I picked up a pair of Tang Band W3-1878 3" bamboo-cone drivers with the funky orange phase plug and monstrous underhung Neo motor. These were originally marked around $64, and now go for $131.54. My pair were mounted, but there didn't appear to be any paint damage except slight scuffing around the mounting holes from using fasteners with heads that were too large. No VC rubbing or buzzing in evidence. These are the most over-the-top small full-range drivers ever produced, and if the price of Neo doesn't come back down fully, they may be the last of their kind. My price: $30. Those were the 'big find' of the day.
I bought two of the 'defective' Dayton DTA-100 100W T-Amps with 'popping' problems, in hopes that I can fix either one or both. I think the 'popping' may be due to a cold solder joint, and if I can fix even one of the two I picked up, I would still have one working amp for less than half the price of a new amp. I was surprised (but not terribly) at the quantity of defective amps they had.
I also picked up a few spools of speaker wire, a pair of the Dayton titanium-dome tweeters (absolutely beautiful clear-anodized gray titanium domes that have to be seen in-person), a copy of the Yamaha Sound Reinforcement Handbook (since pro audio is an interest of mine), and a HiVi Trinity6 (an orphan of the unique driver, to be used in the exactly one center channel speaker I ever plan to build).

Having first dibs rocks!! I personnally scored a set of Dynavox 6's, Morel 29's and CAT308's, NS270 passives, and a set of RS100's. My buddies hit on some Aurum Cantus 5"F1's, TB 3" 1878's, HiVi D6's and D8's, and the deal of the century... a set of Aurum Cantus G3Si's for $60!!! Super deals thoughout the day were on hand for everyone with 20% off everything there!! THANKS PARTS EXPRESS for all that you do for your customers!!:D

I also picked up 4 of the dta-100 t-amps. I choose the ones that had the rca jacks on the back fall out an one that was sent back for popping noise when the power was turned on. I also picked up some female rca to 3.5mm connectors to hook the amps up. Really nice find for the about 20 bucks apiece I have in them.
Wem
A few resistors, a few coils, a one-off proto 8" cast-frame PR for $3.20, a pair of D5G (one shelved for $20, one for $50 from stock), a pair of the new buyout $5.50 ports for $2.40/ea, a Hi-Vi TM1A that had been mounted for $6, and a floor-wart for the application I have.
I know there was a Morel CAW638 for $5, Shawn A bought that.
I directed George to the W4-1757, and he probably should have thought about a second one at -20%. (You heard what that kind of driver can do in my MTM's, George.)
Tom Bond got a single W3-1797 for a few bucks.
My buddy Matt got a ton of pro shtuff for a lot less than regular price...
I didn't spend that much this year.
Eric(6th)- you better check out the Dynavox's. One of the drivers may have a seized coil, and it's been there a few years running now. Just a thought.

This year was my first tent sale. I was grinning from ear to ear the whole time. I think I've actually had dreams like that. I picked up a couple DTA-100s that had bad rca jacks. I figured I would just replace them, but I didn't realize there was a 1/8" input in the front as well. Got them home and both amps work like champs for $16 bucks a piece. Now I'm kicking myself for not buying 10 more, because the power supply alone is worth at least $16.
I also got a 0.50 cu ft Cherry enclosure missing its baffle for $9. The cool thing is I put in a see-if-I-get-it bid for $0.99 on a pair of those baffles on eBay a while back and won them - free shipping, too.
I also picked up an OmniMic at 20% off which was worth the drive by itself.
I've got a couple questions for the more experienced tent-salers. I got there at about 10am - how much did I miss? Also, do the DIY competition participants get access to the tent sale before 8am?

WOLF - Hind sight is always 20/20. Guess I should have gone back to the tent sale after hearing your MTM's to pick up a second one, but sort of hit my $$$ limit by 8:30 AM. Oh well:(:(:(

If you enter the competition you get to go in at 7 before anyone else.
I scored a 500 watt Dayton plate amp with a slightly bent corner for $80. Two RS125-8s for $10 a piece and a pair of Usher 8137A's for $26 a piece.

Dan,
The design participants got in at 7:00AM, and most everyone was there. I had one cart filled before 8:00 AM. It was kind- of cool standing next to Jeff Baby exclaiming how good a particular tweeter was. I worked off a list and found most everything I wanted. I got a Eminence Kappa pro 15LF for $55, the box was damaged but the driver was perfect.

I hear you on the first part...:D
Yep- you enter a design, you wear your shirt to the TS and get in at 7am. They let us in this year about 7:05, just because I asked. I don't think they were ready.
This was the first year they had "check points", and a whole lined-off flowing setup. Normally the registers flanked the bay-door. Personally, this was the best setup they had so far as TS's past go. There are usually the best deals about 7-8am, and you pick what you think about and purchase what you want to keep.
Glad you had fun, missed you at the Holiday Inn though...

The Ushers I got, Jeff had in his cart and later put back, so when I saw them I new it was a safe buy. :)

Just got this stuff unloaded and unboxed from the car an hour or so ago. 12 hours on the road is enough for me; I am truly tired, but boy, did I have some good fun! Even took the wife along so she could see what all the fuss is about.
On the far side I've got parts for a complete set of NTN's, some various cables, knobs, handles, 8" waffle grills for $1... 10 tweeters for $10, some terminals for a buck each, and a few other goodies.
The driver on the right is a RS 8" sub, pulled from the back, but still 20% off...
two of the Tang W8740P's up front...$16 ea. Yowza! I've always wanted a few of those
A 8" Tang sub W8-1363SB which is selling now for $150ish for $42 (Ebay auction buy it now from last week... thanks PE for holding that for me)
A couple of $1 Jamo mid-woofer's with a cool surround that forms a front mounting ring...
The fans were a few bucks each and run off 12V, and felt well made. I'll use them eventually.
A couple of 10" Subs for $4/ea. I had to cull the lot for ones without bent frames...
a Bash 300 watter, bought at full price, but with the current sale and extra 20% off -- a cool $91 bucks.
and
that monster 15" passive radiator on the left... $25 for that and I'm still smiling. :)
Jeff Bagby later mentioned that he had it in his cart, but put it back, then his friend scooped it up, but put it back also, good for me. I can't find an exact comparison to PE's TC passives, but it's probably similar to the VMP 15 which runs for $218 currently, although this has a different frame.
Only regret is that PE ran out of HiVi SP-10's; they're on sale, and with an extra 20% off that would have been a great deal. I was in for two, but alas, there was none.
I'm actually probably one of the few folks there who actually wishes that they picked up a few more things. The prices were really fantastic.
Also, like others have said... THANKS PE for putting on a great event. I had a blast, even though I didn't enter any speakers again. Next year I will be bringing something to the listening competition.
***Thanks PE staff for everything you guys did. PE is really a special company, and I think most of us realize it and appreciate them for all they do for their customers. Thank You!
TomZ
They will likely be on sale again, and may even be still there at TS2012 for another attempt at -20%. I don't know however if they'll go up more between now and then.
I don't always get my drivers in the same year. Sometimes I search for a mate, and it takes a while to find one at just the right price.
I'm sure you'll get another to match from somewhere.
Later,
Wolf

I actually stopped in at about 12:30 when everyone was at lunch. I was pressed for time but was originally hoping that I could at least hear a couple sets of speakers. When I saw everyone was gone, I took a quick walk around and took off. I was very impressed, to say the least, with the craftsmanship.
As I said, I picked up an OmniMic, so I'm hoping to get measuring and enter a pair in the competition next year.

Ha Ha! I got to the tent sale a little before 7:00 knowing I had to be back to the hotel by 8:00 to help get things ready. I walked around my first tent sale like a kid in a candy store with low blood sugar and filled my cart with all kinds of yummy stuff. Then before I checked out I walked back around putting stuff back that I didn't think I would ever actually get to use in something. I may regret giving up the Ushers though, but I am sure you will make great use of them. :D

I just got the first one of my DTA-100 T-Amps hooked up. "Popping noise"? No problems whatsoever, just excellent, full, and detailed sound with solid bass, good dynamics, and proper channel level balance. I'm tempted to call PE back and order more of the 'defective' T-Amps, for friends and family. What a value, and really excellent sound.
That AudioPulse 15" PR walked around in my cart for a while until I realized I just couldn't bring myself to spend even $25 on something I couldn't think of a use for, even though I spent about $150 before it was all said and done. Next year I'm budgeting $300 for the TS...

I got to stop by late (about 9am). I just bought some buyouts I'd been wanting to play with. I didn't have time or money for anything else. BTW i just arrived in Baytown, TX!

Before I dragged my **** home early (long story for another time/thread, short story is that I feel a whole bunch better today) I did manage to secure a very nice pair of Usher 9970 tweeters for $32. The TC Sounds Epic 10 DVC I scored is rather sweet as well. Grabbed a few other tweeters for some nice prices. Overall I got a lot of loot that would have cost me many times more if I paid full price. I love the tent sale.
