Many of us have probobly seen the Tarkus build thread by Bungalow Ed in the project forum...

His tobacco sunrise finish on MDF opens a few windows for finish work for us DIYers and i'm intrigued to try some tecniques myself. Here's a pic if anyone didn't catch it already.

Now for those looking for ultimate budget builds, the materials and time savings could be substantial when working with MDF or veneered plywood. I found a site that sells some woodgraining tools and there's TONS of YouTube videos showing the process. Here's a link

I'll be trying this on a small set of desktop speakers for a friend so i'll post some results here. Might be a nice thread for others to contribute their 'Faux' finishes.:)

I am working on the sunburst finish for the Beasties. I think it was one of the most inspiring finished for MDF I have ever seen.
