As long as I get the money in the bank tomorrow... :) This 50" Plasma for $600 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004M8SCJM/ref=ox_ya_os_product ....
Now I'll finally be free of my terrible sounding corner desk! I can place my 7 speakers a few feet away from me, put up acoustic material in the right spots, and hear the detail in my sub (I lose it @ my PC.) ...
Have to figure out what I'm going to use for a portable desk and all that, but.. :D
That means I'll probably be harassing you gents in a couple/few months when I get some cash to spend, for improved sound with my new TV.. ;)
With the money you saved, you can build bigger better speakers.

Saved $180 ;)
That's what I want most.. Two really nice speakers for sermons and music. I'm going to have to research crossover design, see if I want to build my own or someone else's.
I'm going to have to get a new receiver, though. Have to sell the two I have now.

Build someone else's unless you've got a sim thread somewhere here with about 100 different corrections posted lol. It takes a few iterations to merely learn the software - then you learn how to design crossovers.

Nice plasma! It still amazes me how the prices on great looking TVs have come down over the past 4-5 years.

Right at this very minute, BB is selling a Sharp? 42" 1080 LCD for $200 (well, at least 3 of them per store, I guess).

Be mindful of "burn-in" with plasmas, especially if you're a gamer. My last big screen was a plasma and it started to display bad burn-in and ended up being returned. Didn't even last 12 months. We did not use it for games, but gaming makes burn-in even more of a possibility, especially with kids. We now have a 60" Sony backlit-LED in the family room and it's wonderful -- not as "black" as the plasma, but 100x better not having to deal with the burn-in. Once that happens, the TV is junk.

LEDs will wear out with time also. We've got some at work with the same "windows" in the same positions all the time. Started to show a "smear" (like a soft shadow effect) to he right of each "frame". Probably are "on" (not on screensaver) about 30 hrs per week. They held out for over a year (1500 hrs?) before it was noticeable, but NOW (3-4 yrs later / about 5000 hrs?) they look horrendous.

:) New plasmas are very resilient to burn in, and have a feature you run for a few minutes to 'undo' uneven wear.
Regardless, it's an expensive TV and I am going to be careful. I'll break it in and keep the brightness down - I don't understand why people like to stare into the sun anyway.
