Modify microphone capsule

Hello Bill, I was think about modify microphone capsule in the Omnimic, for example like Linkwitz measuring microphone. When measuring the distortion in the near field, it would be interesting.

mh, I understand, I asked because has Omnimic max. 127 dB SPL, and after the treatment but could be about 140 dB, but I quietly :)

Available capsules now have higher sensitivity (unfortunately) than the older ones, and using source follower gets the sensitivity back down only to about what the old WM62 capsules did. Distortion is improved, but max signal handling is about what older capsules did with grounded source configuration.

These type capsules are optimized for low noise (higher sensitivity) rather than high SPL handling. I'd really like if they were made less sensitive, but we'd have to get the quantity up into the several tens of thousands to get anyone to make them.
