Well, are you interested in DIY, or do you want to buy a pre-built speaker? You could build something nearly the same for less money, or something better for the same price.

The drivers in the SWAN 6.1 appear to be this:
Tweeter: HiVi TN28

Midrange: HiVi F6
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=297-440
Woofer: HiVi m8n

Yeah djkest just linked you all the drivers used. They aren't bad drivers, but if you're looking for DIY I'd definitely choose a better tweeter to mate with those mids and woofers.

I concur, kimbb. Crossed at 3kHz or greater the TN28 is just fine however.

As for the OP, you are asking the wrong people. We are DIY people here, so there is generally little to no interest in commercial speakers here. That said, HiVi drivers are generally very good bang for the buck, it stands to reason that the Swan commercial speakers follow the same trend.

If you want something that sounds just as good or better than that, check out Paul Carmody's SWOPE 3-way tower.

It uses the Dayton ND28 tweeter (or SB Acoustics SB29RDCN), Hivi M5a as a mid, and 2x HiVi m6a as woofers. It will cost you $400-$600 to build it and with Paul C as the designer, I'm sure you'd be pleased. Plans are on HTguide forums.

Let's see-
'MAX' (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b117/wolf_teeth_speaker/MAX/) with M8N

...would also be appropriate.

Plus you can get the crossover assembled with a kit from here:

P.S. How could I have linked the word "here" to the web page? haven't done HTML in years:rolleyes:

the SWOPE 3 way looks nice but i have my heart set on a 3 way that uses 2x 8" woofers.

Two 8's with a HT sub? don't you think that might be overkill:eek:

Number and size of drivers aside, consider sound quality and performance first and you will find there are great proven designs to build. Take a look at the different Statement designs for instance. Just a thought. :)

Or possibly my current project. I will measure and post response later this week. If the measure as good as they sound I'll post the box and xo.

If you want 2 8's, you can build this cheaper than any posted:

http://web.archive.org/web/20071207183643/http://www.wadsnet.com/~dtenney/dayton_8MTM.htm

If you search Chris Roemer, he even has a cheaper crossover for this design.

my original plan was to build jed's 4T's L,C,R and that may be my best bet,i don't have enough room from the wall for statements.i just really like the look of the HiVi stuff :)

My bad - I was just trying to recall some Hi Vi designs I've seen in the past.
