This is the final saga in the story 4 different driver/XO combinations or projects that used the same enclosure. These cabinets with 38 cu. ft. internal volume were built by diyspeakercabinets.com for Ed Frias' AR.COM kit. This was its lifecycle:

1) AR.COM: Peerless 850122, Peerless 812687 / Madisound prebuilt XO's

2) U-Pee: Peerless 850122, Usher 9950-20 / Wayne J's PeeCreek XO

3) MyPee: same drivers / My first self-designed XO

4) ...

Previous projects were vented 2-ways, so this one brings me into new territory: a sealed 2.5-way. I tried them out with 3 different amps: NAD C325BEE, LM1875-based gainclone and Dayton T-amp. They did fine with all three. The T-amp is their intended mate, with a Bose Wave CD player/radio as the source, bypassing its equalized amp and mediocre speakers (using analog line-outs...there is a decent DAC in that thing!).

There are plenty of projects that use either the mid-woofer or the tweeter, but I'm not aware of one that uses both in this configuration.

The result is a very smooth and balanced speaker, easy to listen to, and I don't feel I've lost any detail or accuracy over the RS180/RS28A 2-way's that these replaced: a win-win from my perspective. This is a viable combination of drivers.
