  1. Original "Audinums"....

Original “Audinum” TM writeup by Ben “Wolf” Shaffer 1/30/07

The enclosure dictated most of what happened in this project, as it was partially a prefabricated enclosure. These are no longer available. With that in mind, the driver cutouts would fit a 3" nominal driver, and the tweeter was a 2.5" diameter nominal. The midbass driver frame couldn't be larger than 3.75" to fit in the recessed baffle, and the tweeter hole was 2". I wanted a 2-way to fit in the enclosure, ...

  2. "3CR-Ti" original writeup...

“3CR-Ti” project by Ben “Wolf” Shaffer 9-20-07

I completed these a few months ago, and it was an experiment in every sense of the word.

    Design Goals:

There has been some discussion in the past regarding the benefits of dual-chamber-reflex (DCR) enclosures. I have built one of these also. Whether or not a triple-chamber-reflex (3CR) would have any meriting benefits, and therefore be another viable alternative for a bass-reflex alignment, was the purpose ...

  3. Mn-14 writeup....

“Manganese (Mn)-14” by Ben “Wolf” Shaffer; finished 11-10-07

    Project Goals/Inception/Driver Selection:

I was at the third annual Parts Express Tent Sale, and came across some great deals. I found some items that I picked up so I didn’t miss out on them, but later decided which ones to keep and which to put back. That is the method I choose to accept during this rushing day of chaos. Like another project before, this involved one of the last things I picked up that day. ...

  4. Issues of normal discussion.... and typical applied thoughts....

    FWIW:
I don't always take harmonic distortion arguments to heart, as they aren't always within the best range for the driver's implementation. If you use a driver well, in the range best applied, most will sound fantastic with optimal xovers, and the distortion might not even be audible. I build projects to experiment, and experience different drivers we have available to us. This is a hobby, and not life-or-death struggles. I don't always understand every nitty-gritty detail discussed, ...
