  2. Experiments on making own drivers

by , 12-19-2011 at 10:30 AM (Working with resin enclosures)
So I think I'm back on track with my upper enclosure mold and hopefully should be casting before x-mas, took a little longer than expected because I got sidetracked with the idea of making my own drivers, or at least part of one. Looking into making the motor for a conventional speaker is not in my means, so I'm looking into something along the lines of MBL or HEIL drivers using the motor from a cannibalized conventional driver, trying different "cone" materials over the past couple weeks ...

  3. Do Over!!! CNCProject-xtended Top Enclosure CNC

Okay, so I made a stupid mistake... got all the foam layers glued together and sanded down the rough edged, went to "seal it up", was going to use shellac but didn't have any so went to use some clear urethane, but of course it was out of a spray can and yes of course it attacked the foam... ruined... but now that I have the cnc process down, re-doing it is a snap, plus I thought that the shape was pretty generic anyways so thought I would update it.

This is the plug for the main body of the upper enclosure. For reference the enclosures behind it have cutouts for 8" woofers(though these are not ...

  5. Update- Project-xtended

by , 05-17-2011 at 04:48 PM (Working with resin enclosures)
Ok so I've got the protos together, decided to go with 3rd order crossovers, sounds pretty good. Still working on the upper mid-tweeter enclosures, right now just mdf boxes, the crossovers have more components than I would like... actually let me re-phrase that... the values of the components are more expensive than I would have liked, even using a couple electrolytic capacitor and a couple Iron-core inductors, but it is what it is.
Right now for the parts I've got right around $350 not ...
