            Hello all,

So I've been trying to find a use for these, mostly in vain. I have 2 12" subwoofers I'm using in separate boxes, but they're happy in the 55 liter boxes they're in, and also let me spread them around to combat room modes a la Geddes.

I have an Infinity Kappa Perfect 12VQ 4 ohm subwoofer, aluminum cone, 3" voice coil, and 17mm (!!!) xmax subwoofer that models really well in these enclosures. In the 80 liters of shared space in these enclosures it results in a Qtc of 0.615, which would be clean and dry, but still reach xmax with only 240 watts at 22 Hz. Subwoofer driver is really nice! I can sell the Infinity subwoofer, a Dayton SA240 plate amplifier I have for $100 together, and the enclosure is free as it was to me. All that needs to be done is put a rectangular piece of wood to seal the 2nd woofer cutout and amp cutout - would be a simple affair as one piece of wood will seal all of it as well as provide mounting for the Dayton plate amplifier.

I scoped out good low-cost woofers, and the MCM 55-1465 would be nice (http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/55-1465). They're 8 ohm when wired in parallel, have a 25 Hz. fs, and due to their T/S parameters, can reach xmax with a meager 100 watts total - meaning you can use an old receiver as a sub amp - simply use a y-cable to y the mono subwoofer out to two stereo channels. The speakers are $46 each, so the pair would be under $100.

Enclosure is the same type as in this article written by our gracious board friend and OT author badman: www.enjoythemusic.com/diy/0512/kaboominator.htm

I'm in zipcode 90042, and have lots of speakers stuff for sale besides this (cough cough http://techtalk.parts-express.com/fo...kef-bookshelfs), so come on by.

            Cheers,
            Tal

Here's what the original subwoofer that these enclosures were made for looks like (for sale locally, oh boy!)

And if you want to feel like a million bucks - here's also the same enclosure, but for 3000 UK pounds:

Hopefully they can find some drivers to live in them- thank you for clearing them out of my space! I picked up some of the music you'd mentioned and am getting familiarized with it. Hope we can get together again soon. If Beau's watching.... how 'dem trios/cabs?
