  • DuraTex roll on over flat black?

Can you use DuraTex (roll on) over (can) flat black spray paint? I want to sand the Baltic Birch then spray it with flat black cheap spray paint then light sand then Duratex roll on. I'm running out of Duratex and don't want to order another so I'm trying to make sure I have enough for this project.

Spray paint is solvent based, DuraTex is water based. Unless the spray paint was fully cured the DuraTex would peel off. If you want to use a base coat use regular latex paint.

Do you recommend any certain kind, or will any cheap or not latex do?

The brand doesn't matter. Flat black would probably give better adhesion of the DuraTex.

I got through my little project by using a thin first coat with a brush and then roller for the second. Thanks for the info.
