  • From EQ to Balanced and Unbalanced amps.

Please help me with this scenario:

    Equipment:
    ART HD15 Equalizer
    Crown XLS 402 Amplifier
    Active Subwoofer with unbalanced inputs

What are the potential issues if I connect both the crown and the active sub off the equalizer provided that the crown will be connected balanced and the sub unbalanced.

Anytime you have unbalanced connections it opens up the possibility of ground looping. Transformer isolation may be required to fix it. This explains all:

Many thanks Bill, that's an excellent reading. I'll get the ART CLEANBoxPro Stereo Balanced/Unbalanced Converter to hook the sub which coincidentally is your AT design :D.
