    For the PE Design Team

Some typos in the write-up, but all pertinents are in there.
Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

Nice write up Johnny. Any more pics on your build? I looked around in the Speaker Project Gallery and didn't find this one.

I've decided to post very few pictures of my actual builds in order to encourage people to create their own visuals. It is cheap blue vinyl over a felt backing, with pine sidewalls.

I submitted the project to the Design Team gallery, but it has not shown up yet, not sure why.

        JR,
i have been wanting to try to the 8" paper cone and I have many RS28A. I also want an 8" two way. I will tell you how I like it when I am done. I just finished a Lou C project with the Vifa XG18 and Seas tweeter. I like it very much. Thank you for sharing with those of us that are crossover challenged.

            Nice writeup, dude!

Interesting crossover method - did you choose to voice by ear just as practice, or was there another constraint
instead of "measure - tweak - repeat"?

Hehe not sure I can be considered an iconoclast - but I really was curious to see how well my ears are holding up and if I have grown too reliant on measurements. I think my ears are fine, and I believe my reliance on measurements to be a good thing.

Is the bump @650hz a measurement artifact, driver response or induce by the baffle diffraction ?

                      Nice project btw,

I don't mean to be rude but could you clarify which one of the three it is ?

It is all three. If you look at the supplied Dayton measurement file (found on their product page) you can see the irregularities in that region. It is also just slightly higher than the baffle step frequency, and possibly an artifact not eliminated via gating. So, the answer was "yes" to all three scenarios. If I considered it troublesome (and I have added expensive notch filters to drivers in that region in the past), I would have done something with it.
