We were in awe of your monument wielding abilities!!!!! Seriously..... a cool speaker very well done.

And they actually dug into the ground at some point, and they are more than just the head and shoulders. They are actually fully carved figures.

A better idea of the scale, don't think I would like to rock one of these babies into position.
Yes, I believe that was it.

Ha, if you're the village "Rope Maker" you'd better be on your game... that's all I'm saying!

Thanks for the pics. Watching the show, there were a few of these busted statues littered around here and there because things didn't always go as planned.

Ha! Nice!!! I saw the show where that last pic was taken from. A couple of guys were trying to recreate/figure out how the ancients moved these huge stone 'people' looking objects. It seems that they figured it out...

Walk them to their destination by tilting it back and forth, and it's natural motion while rocking caused it to 'walk' forward -- once they figured out the correct setup with the help of the volunteers. Others have tried to figure out the mystery, but they hadn't been able to recreate the process accurately. These guys had a huge, slightly scaled-down model made out of concrete to test their theory with.

The locals actually spoke about these things 'walking' to their destination... which is why these guys decided to try their approach of rocking it to it's final destination. At the very end of their allotted time they ended up getting the 'walk' just right and were able to move it amazingly easily and quickly. Once they figured out the 'formula' it became obvious that this was they method of transport. It was a cool thing to see. It was on an isolated island if I remember correctly.
