I mean, WOW. I have done some lengthy projects in my day, though I would never even think to try and have a product as OEM (read-flawless) looking as that. Hats off to you!!!!

First off, great job on your fabrication/finish. They look great.
Secondly, any progress on the desk? I'm curious to see what design you end up implementing and the inclusion of USB/power strip etc.

Re: Apple themed Overnight Sensation MTM

Thanks for all of the positive comments from everyone!

I'm moving on to the last part of the project now.... Designing and building a desk to hold all the computer items.... Since I built a sub already, its not going in the desk. Instead I am going to stealth a drawer in the front, may be RFID enabled and motorized... we will see.

Here is the apple desk at the apple store for reference.

And here is what I am looking at building, with the speakers and Mac shown for reference.

It would be a multi part design enabling it to be taken apart for transportation but still very solid construction.

A top surface (4/6 sides would be planks of wood glue together to create an interesting visual surface. The base would allow the surface and legs to attach together but still be removable, and also allow access to the inside to route computer and speaker wires.

The back has a center plate that would pop out or swing up, possibly motorized as well, with a 1" slit for wires and cables to connect to the mac.

A drawer in the front would slide out and fit in with the molding on the front of the desk making it look very sleek.

The general idea of the desk is to get out of the way of distracting from the design of the speakers and computer and act as more of a display case for them. A built in power strip, usb hub etc keeps things uncluttered.

This may take a bit of time to finish designing and actually build, but when I have a finished product I will throw a few picture up here.

I just went through your thread again and got a lot more out of it the second or third time around. Let me add my compliments for an amazing job -- very, very, nice execution of the Apple theme, with superb attention to detail.

Those look better than if Apple designed a pair themselves. You have proven if you take your time the result can be amazing.

    Those look incredible!

Did you think about painting the cones using the same paint mix? As cheap as the B4N is.. might be worth a shot. :D

I looked at the Dayton DA115's but they weren't what Paul used so I am sure the design would need to be changed... However it looks like they may be the same physical dimensions so it is possible to modify the crossover and use the same physical box design.

Really wished I could have gotten them in all silver aluminum cone but they still look really nice and add just a touch of color to the face so you know they are there. I tried a grayscale image and it makes the speakers a little less exciting with the drivers silver.
