Those look great. What was the procedure for getting that finish?

Excellent work! Now how do they sound? Any chance they'll be in Iowa this October?

Those look as good as they sound.
Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

If you don't mind, I'd like to move this over to the Speaker Project section.

I used a cotton rag, folded up about 1 1/4" wide, you can wipe the stain on this way and just randomly apply more or less with each pass. As long as you keep all your strokes going the same direction, and not exactly straight, (mine were a bit wavy) you start to see the "grain" pattern appear. Artistic imperfection is the key, just dip the rag in the stain and go, don't fuss over any of it too much. After that's all dried for a good 24hrs or so I followed up with a coat of polycrylic to seal everything. I wasn't sure how well the spray paint would stick since the stain is oil based, so I figured the polycrylic would seal it up and provide a good base coat. It seems to have worked quite well, the poly goes on nice with a foam brush if you keep the coats light. It also dries very fast when applied thin. So the whole process is pretty simple, seal and sand the raw MDF edges, (I used wood glue and water mixed) apply stain, follow with 1 or 2 coats of poly, spray the edges to hide the joints and achieve the burst look, and finish it off with 2 or more coats of poly, lightly sanding in between coats. Another option would be to mask off the panels and paint a border to hide the edges, rather than a burst. I went with the burst to mimic a guitar type finish, seems fitting since these speakers rock!

Congratultions, they look very classy and blend in well
with your HT cabinet, I suspect your wife hasn't even noticed
them yet. You have cleverly disguised Tarkus as a gentrified
member of society but you are not fooling any of us.

Just to help give me a size refference, how large is your
                            Flat Screen TV?

Do you mind telling me what model receiver you are using
and how powerful it is?, is it getting along well with Tarkus.?

Come to think of it you look a lot like a Viking yourself as does
Tarkus so I'm sure you guys will get along well together but I'm
sure Tarkus could drink you under the table in a heart beat.
Can you give me sense of how much each box weighs in
at, not that this is a problem for a strong guy like yourself.

Apart form the Overnight Sensations this has to be one of the best
names that Paul Carmody has ever come up with. (I kinda like the
idea of Vikings, but it's a bit formal, sorta like a dayton RS version)
