  • 830875, xt25 + wave guide build

This is going to be a book shelve 2 way, the plan is about 18 liters tuned to 45hz. The wave guide is a dayton 6.5" (H065RW).
I plan to mount the waveguide as seen in this thread: http://www.htguide.com/forum/showthread.php4?t=35524

This will be the first build I've done that wasn't designed by someone else so Critofur said he'd help me out with crossover design.

This is probably going to be a slow build, I've only just started flattening the veneer.

Nice little project. Take your time and it will come out spectacular.

    Love the veneer.

this is my first time using veneer tape, so my first attempt resulted in a fingernail sized gap in one of the veneer seems, so the side below is probably going to be scrapped :(

Very beautiful veneer! What is it?
Even though that waveguide is NLA, looking forward to the build and your listening impressions.
Been hearing a lot of good things about waveguides recently, but most of them are custom
            one-offs.

Check out the Denovo waveguides at diysoundgroup. Or the Dayton 8" is decent too.

can anyone provide any input on my design? opinions on my volume and tuning choices? baffle dimensions and speaker locations? Is it best to locate the tweeter closer to the woofer? What about the aesthetics of the waveguide being trimmed a bit to be closer to the woofer? or how i have the truncated frame of the woofer flipped? should i round the edges of the baffle?

also, does partsexpress sell hardware that allows you to have a removable baffle? i thought i had seen some special nuts and bolts that allow you to easily attach/detach the baffle from the cabinet.

It will be to your advantage to get the drivers as close as possible. Looks good so far.

                              few questions:
1)probably not sufficient bracing in the second photo?
                              2)can someone confirm that a 2" dia port thats 5" long in a .63 ft^3 enclosure should yield a 45 hz tuning?

I'm hoping to have the veneering and finishing done in a week so that i can start milling the baffle next and getting this wave guide fitting figured out.:o
