O.T. Question... What's the little horizontal bar graph under users name?

I see some people have a few dots on that horizontal LED VU meter looking thing under their name and others don't.

I thought it might be related to the number of posts, but I see that Wolf doesn't have any dots, and he has a lot of posts and has posted other stuff as well.
Just curious.

The members list defines this column as "Reputation." Sorting by reputation only shows 4 people currently with 2 bars. Everyone else: no bars.

It appears to be a Like-o-meter, indicating the number of "likes" that posters receive. What that has to do with "reputation" isn't clear.

Ok, I've looked at the sort order by reputation and it appears that members without bars simply have less than one bar at the current time.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that this is a measure of the number of posts since PE changed to the new forum format.

In a forum I visit for fantasy sports we have "rep" power. It is a combination of post count and user assigned rep. Both positive and negative rep is able to be issued by the user.
