  • Can you change the vertical listening height with xsim? If you compare 5 degrees above, and 5 degrees below axis, you will see thing change quickly when you cross at 4k. If it looks so so on axis, see if it's better a little above, or below. It's one of those things that make you say "Hmmmm, that's interesting". (Maybe 10 degrees.)

You will need about a 90uf cap, and 2mH coil for the mid highpass. Or a 1mH, and 120uf. something in between works too. The rest stays the same. This is the x-over point that I would probably attempt if they were my speakers.
I changed my mind. That mid is really small. I think the x-over with the 4.7 mH may be low enough! Should handle higher spl better. It would be tempting to try both and compare.

      • after 2.5 days in bed with some kind of stomach bug my back is killing me but i feel good otherwise . before i blow up what i've already done and buy parts i'm gonna make some tweaks . i have the parts to try this . keep in mind i manually tuned the woofer down -6db ... let know if you can't see the values .

I wouldn’t worry about it. This is a single mid of the same size crossed 3rd order elec for the hp at 400 and it doesn’t move. (Sorry if the pic is giant on a computer, sometimes posting from my phone does that)

Hope you feel better! Despite being sick have you gotten a chance to listen to any of the different sims with scrap parts and see how you like them or do any tuning by ear? Curious what you think so far and which response sounds best for you.

                    Maybe I translated that right.

Looks like the numbers match my post. Let me check my sim, and see. The tweeter shouldn't be that high. Maybe I read a value wrong.

I see something weird with your sim graph. On post #62, the mid is 6dB below the sum. I assumed that sim showed one mid, although two would be 6dB higher. In these new sims, the mid touches the sum. The little icon that indicates a mid looks different on the two sims. One has something dark on it. Is it possible that it's turned off or something? Obviously I'm not familiar with xsim.

                      • I was eyeballing baffle step, but decided to download, and try response modeler. I was way off. see if these files work for you. It looks like a bigger coil is needed due to the baffle effects. I took a wild guess at your baffle size, and driver location, but it should be closer than eyeballing it.

No, but I'm learning, and getting my feet wet. I think the woofer and mid phase will be close enough since they likely were measured the same way. Tweeter may be a lot different. That's why I was asking about sims at different vertical locations. By the way, my sim showed very deep tweeter to mid null at about 12 degrees up or down. So, fine tune the x-over for your seated height if possible.
