I was having some kind of sinus scratchy throat thing and was lacking sleep Saturday but managed to have a good time anyway. Got to hear some nice speakers and some good music and hang out with some nice folks. I missed a picture of an unfinished MTM entry which was lacking a crossover. I would have like to hear what a pair of ID's could do. Many thanks to Meniscus Audio for hosting.

Hi Ron, Thanks for posting a few photos!

Glad to hear that everyone had a good time, even if attendance was a bit lower than expected. I swear every time I see those ceramicos from JavadS and Jeff B. I get more excited about doing my own build with some of those drivers. Gonna need to hear more about this tweeter forwardness that folks are describing. Not sure if that's inherent to the design or simply the crossover choices employed. That white cone though....

Those would be the upgraded units for the CSS Audio P215 kit.

Those went with the Creative Sound Solutions monitors we got to hear. I believe they were a $300 upgrade from their stock crossover and the base was 3D printed.

One of the speaker cables was hooked up out of phase from the other at the amp.

Here are the two ID entries.  Mine are the pair in black gloss Formica.

What happened to all the other entries?

I had no dog in the fight but was delighted to listen.. Both designs were very different having shared the same driver .. Both did a few things well and both had some limitations.. Hearing a kit with the same driver gave some help to it all to.. Once phase issue was addressed they both  sounded good , each in their own way .. The other designs were personal builds that are always fun to listen to the  ideas and x over design.. The Usher Isobaric by Craig K had big bass and a wide stage.. The Coaxial Red and white had a detailed sound but never did get to be heard in phase.. The CSS were great at bass for a 5 inch.. The Ceramicos had a warm bass but having heard them now twice I feel the Ceramic tweeter to be a bit forward.. The best of show goes to Mark and Chad for their hospitality and the hard work  Kudos to Kerry for his nice demo work and diligent positioning of each design..  The beer was great at the local pup and as always .. Great people who really love the hobby !
