Looks like the web site is updated for 2018. The competition judges show as Jerry Mcnutt, Peter Noerbaek, and Vance Dickason. I'm trying to remember if Peter and Vance were on at the same time a few years ago. I seem to recall that Peter was a tough scorer and did not like much.

    This should be interesting

Yes- they were on the panel in 2015 together.

Darn- it is the 13/14 weekend. I can still do it, but I can't get adjacent days off from work due to another coworker claiming them. I'll just end up sleep deprived for sure.

I'm planning attending and entering my first MWAF this year. So I'm interested in the setup and general room acoustics at MWAF. I did find a building map, but have no idea which room or rooms are used for the speaker judging. Here are a few questions I've been wondering about:

                - Is the same room used for all speaker classes (see map)
                - Approximate distance from speakers to judges?
                - Can you position your speakers as desired or are there marker positions where they have to placed?
                - Ceiling height?
                - General room acoustics (dead, live, etc.)

                Thanks for your responses.

Last year they modified and combined studio 3 and 2. All the judging is done in the same room just different times and tracks.

My recollection...the speakers are position pretty far apart maybe 12 feet. There are makers on the floor. The judges are about 8-9 feet back from the imaginary line between the speakers. They sit at a 6 foot table about 30 inches high with water bottles and baskets of snacks. You can adjust the toe-in. I think some people have moved their speakers around but that would be the exception. The ceiling looks to be 10 feet tall. The room seems pretty neutral maybe plus a few dB of bass somewhere near 50 Hz.

Here is a rough floor plan layout I did for last year. Everything is mostly to scale, give or take a foot or two.
