  • Sorry if I missed it somewhere, what are the max outer dimensions? If the woofer "sees" 1.25cuft,
there could be a substantial amount of extra space needed for braces, XO, chambers etc.
This sounds like a ton of fun, thanks for putting it on! My company will be donating some nice
    drivers.
    Guess xmax's age.

My guess: 15. His grammar is passable. His trolling is good.

There are no maximum outer dimensions. The only "size requirement" is1.25 cu ft maximum gross internal volume. Any displacement of the speaker, bracing, port, crossover etc will come out of the 1.25 cu ft.

The easiest way to find all the rules (without flipping through the 9 pages of this thread) is to go to the InDIYana website: https://sites.google.com/site/indiyanaevent/home

      • I'm currently in negotiations with the home boss on how to make this happen. So far it's looking positive, which is cool because this seems like a better event to actually talk speakers and meet more folks from here than MWAF.

I'll have to confirm later if I'll have a pair to bring, been planning in my brain a use for the pair of Peerless DX25BG60-04 tweets I have for the theme. At this point they may end up paired with some good ol' DC160 woofers since they play deep and have reasonably well controlled break up. At any rate it will be cool to see some folks and chat.

Off site. "Gross volume inside the 6 walls(?) Of the cabinet. Bracing will come out of volume requirement if using max volume. I have no problem with thicker walls, et al, but the outer shell should be the max dims."

I do not see "max dims" anywhere. I'm not trying to nag, I have never been involved with any DIY event and I'm trying to have fun with it
and not accidentally break any rules.

Maximum internal dimensions to get to 1.25 cu ft. You can always email Wolf for clarification. I use to make it a habit to push the limits and had wonderful email exchanges with Wolf.

              • Yeah I guess I'm not really worried about the rules or even the competition aspect.
I just like thinking "outside of the box", If I bring a ported 2 way rectangle that means
                my weirdo ideas didn't work.

And you pushed one over the line in Nanotech, and even your wife agreed you had.

Xmax, hopefully the mud is clear now.

Maybe...I only ran out of time to bandsaw through the braces. Those mini TLs will get a slight update and maybe a MWAF showing.

                    • Hotel room is booked for Friday and Saturday night! We'll see if I can stay both nights, but at least the bed is reserved! Now I'd better get my entry out of CAD and into the real world...

                      • Would my SideTowers be in violation of the maximum gross internal volume rules? My gross internal cabinet volume is 6.5x12x26.3 = 1.18cu ft, which includes the internal rear port. But I put my xover in an external rear recess area, which, if counted in the total gross volume, would bring me up to 6.5x12x29.25 = 1.32 cu ft. (see drawing & pics). Do I need to re-locate my crossover board on the inside of the cabinet?

                          • Being little obtuse at times, I want to make sure I understand the size requirements.

I know it has been explained a few times in this thread, but, am I to understand it to be the total displacement of the box (OD) is to be <1.25 cu ft, the 1.25 cu ft is *not* how much air is in the box?

                            Comment

                            • 1.25 cu ft internal air volume of the box without driver, port or bracing.

                              • I understand the max internal air volume, but this confuses me: "I have no problem with thicker walls, et al, but the outer shell should be the max dims." What does that mean exactly?
