Javad- yes, it's intentionally revealed at the event and not before. Not even I know what is on the theme disc. In the last few years, Shawn has had some life problems and wasn't able to get me the theme discs he created by attendance or even mail, but he is intending on coming this year with it in-tow again. Show must go on, so we opted for something present and available when that has occurred in the past.

      Looking forward to it, guys!

      • Since we are on the topic of music selection, can I, once again, put in a plea for the music tracks to include just one complex, high dynamic range, orchestral selection. IMHO that kind of music challenges speakers in ways much other material does not.

        • I always try to include a lot of real instrumentation. Whether that is orchestral or not depends on what is decided to be used.

          • My favorite track last year for evaluating speakers was the metal track from L.S.U. It was very complex with lots of harmonics and really showed off a good speaker. The entire test suite was pretty well selected, in my opinion.

            • That was recorded back in 1993, IIRC. There was still level left, which made it more dynamic than modern music of the same type. I'd call it rock, but I can see where some might call that metal. The entire album "Grace Shaker" is a gem in my collection, and I believe it's also long out of print, NLA. It's quite an eclectic mix of rock, folk, pop, IMO.
If you don't know Mike Knott, he has many more pseudonyms and albums, and has been both recording and producing for more than a couple decades. "Strip Cycle" is another highly recommended masterpiece.
