Either of the two leading categories should be excellent. I'm looking forward to the final tally. Hopefully, everyone who is interested has their votes in by tomorrow.

Is something like this considered a tweeter?

Where does it say that a tweeter is required to be used for the high frequency driver? When can you post the final rules? Is teaming up allowed?

You've teamed up with Ani before. Chuck and Paul teamed up for the last one.

Bare Minimum is to be a standard 2-way, under 1.25ft^3 in gross volume, with fewer than 5 parts per side, and less than the amount specified retail cost for the drivers and xover parts.

I don't know how I can be more clear?

Just add that the high frequency driver must be called a tweeter by the manufacturer. I don't see anything in this thread pertaining to bare minimum that says that. You said it in tweeter Yoga, but not bare minimum. (Post #55 & #57) You also said in those posts that it had to be a dome, but you were talking about tweeter yoga. Go back and look at your posts. I understand your intent, but maybe someone else will not.

Are you limiting it to dome tweeters, or are planar tweeters allowed?

Thanks for the clarification. I was considering using a small full range as a tweeter also, I did not realize that it might be disallowed. I can just as easily use an actual tweeter, so no issues here. A tweeter would probably sound better anyways. By "standard 2-way", I am going to assume that means one or more woofers plus a tweeter.

                    Moving forward...

Planars/AMT/Ribbons are allowed. It says in the initial post about making all of the poll choices a standard 2-way format. 'Yoga specified domes, DR specified PEI/piezo/cone, Hole' specified a 22mm dome tweeter, etc; but all of them are supposed to be conventional 2-way arrangements.

                      Billet- yes, you are correct.

                        • Venue and date scheduled in December, which is typically April, and not any week in particular in April.
I did reply to your e-mail on the event account. With AXPONA, the humongous Vera Bradley Sale, and other factors; I have to be selective as to when I can schedule it.

                          • Thanks, Ben - yes, saw your email. You mentioned the thread and you said you didn't check that account very often, so figured this was easier to follow up.

Not to thread-jack, but what does Vera Bradley Sale have to do with the event? Does your wife work there or something?

The Minimalist is interesting. I was doing a little bit of brainstorming. Keeping it under 1.25 ft and 2-way will ensure it doesn't get too big. I'm just not sure I want to make that drive (12hrs) again.... and alone... - the whole family is already going up to WI in the summer - we're scheduling it around MWAF (my wife loves me).

I'll have to keep an eye out for plane tickets and see how things progress with my ideas. I also have another complicated build that I'd like to finish for MWAF. Not sure if I can swing two this year. I don't know how Javad does it with 3 littles and a business to run . Major points!

                            • Oh, I thought I saw max $150 woofers. But, it's total of $300 including crossovers. It was my understanding it had to be 2-way (e.g. a fullrange driver wasn't OK has to be woofer and tweeter). Or could it be a fullrange driver at $149.99 with no crossover?
**Nevermind, sorry - I see in the first post - $125 max per driver.**

Are coax drivers acceptable? Or does it have to be independent drivers?

Buyouts. I'm not sure what your position is. In my recollection, buyouts could be used but counted at their "normal" purchase price. But, what if the driver is NLA? And what if the driver's "buyout price" is more than the original (last published) catalog price?

Sorry for all the annoying questions you're getting

                              • Coaxials would be fine. Yes- $300 total drivers and xovers, with only 5 xover parts per cabinet allowed. The preference of the themes is to have the drivers all readily available. If you buy it, and while building it becomes NLA- that's allowed. If you can still find the drivers available, even though they are buyouts, and at a regular price point elsewhere; this means they are regular stocked items and allowed. If they are only available as a buyout, then they are not allowed. If there is a rebadge of an old driver with a new model number that is still manufactured, then you can use the NLA at the new driver's price. IE: MDT30 = CAT308.

It's really okay, I get the list of questions every year since the categories change.

Glad to see you're entertaining coming up, Scott!
