    Guess xmax's age.

My guess: 15. His grammar is passable. His trolling is good.

Now you can make your own LS-50's

There's a thread at diyaudio about these:
Tang Band has a new line of coax drivers for point source. From 3' to 8' drivers. The 6.5 and 8' driver sport a funky surround... and e

No "Tangerine" waveguide, so it would not be a very close Kef rip-off.

I was hoping they'd have them by the Tent Sale, but no dice.

If you guys haven't seen it, they even published a recommended cabinet that looks *nothing* like the LS50. :P

As said in the DIYaudio thread, it's a shame there's not a small woofer version, like 4". That's where I'd find these best served. I currently run 8" JBL coaxials front and rear (bipole-ish) but cross them at 150 to dual 12"s. I don't want to get my midbass from the coax if at all avoidable.

The JBLs are from the 328CT. Not a "home hifi" setup but it's one of the few that uses the cone as a waveguide, and is well-made. It's also tuned to run with a waveguide sort of baffle, which I duplicated in wood. That was some heavy effort!

Ha, TB really is skirting the line of patent infringement here, I bet there are some furious KEF engineers out there looking at these products.

Check out their XO with no series component on the mid-bass.

                        That's ridiculous!

                        They have some nice drivers.

Love the heavy *** underhung woofers.

But somebody needs to be fired for that flatulent attempt at a crossover!

The driver is just that good, all it needs is a contour ;)

Not sure if you're kidding or not but since the driver is directly connected to the amplifier no change will be effected upon the drivers transfer function unless the amplifiers output impedance is considerable.....

My mistake, the parallel filter looks to just be there to drop the impedance peak at the crossover region, maybe to make it more "tube friendly". Anyway, the part about the driver being good enough to use without a filter is a joke, though I doubt it sounds terrible as-is, but it's not what I would do.
