  • More Passive Radiators....

    Seems there are some more new Passive Radiators based on the Designer Series speakers, with Aluminum cones.
    They have from 3" up to 12" including a 4", 5" and 6.5" versions... pick your cone, either aluminum or paper! All with a screw to add mass if needed.

    They popped up yesterday. I'm surprised there was no big announcement. They look great! More options and more fun!

      What would be the difference in performance between an aluminium or paper cone passive radiator? I'd understand for an active driver, as their break up modes can differ, but a passive radiator?

        As long as any cone resonance/ cone breakup is addressed in the woofers low pass filter, it will not affect the passives.
        The paper cone Pr's have slightly more mass, but that shouldn't make any notable difference.

          Those are a great addition to the dsa line. Now if PE could add some dsa subs with the same xmax as the PRs and Fs in the 20s....

            I have a NOOB question about these passive radiators - it states that Vd should be double that of the woofer, where do I find the Vd data for the woofers and the PRs? This value is not one that is listed in the specifications for the drivers.

                  So... we've gone from a dearth of PR choices to a mind-boggling array of 22 (by MY count) PRs (from Dayton alone)!
                  (I so wish WinISD could store PR parms! - Hey Juha?)

                  In order to pick these properly, we really need to know the max. recommended added wt. limit for ALL these guys.
                  My chart (below: NOW w/funky formatting - maybe cut and paste back into a text ed. to re-align the columns?)
                  shows that I'm lacking that info on 14 of the Dayton PRs (I only have that data for EIGHT - the RSS and ND PRs).
