  • Peerless tc6 as mid tweeter

I am considering pairing the Peerless TC6-FC00-04 shown here: https://www.parts-express.com/peerle...-ohm--264-1124 with this woofer: https://www.parts-express.com/peerle...ofer--264-1658. Crossover would be around 1300hz.

Any thoughts on how much power TC6 will take? Am I making a mistake trying to use a 2" mid tweeter. Should I instead stick with bigger mid tweeter like Vifa TC9?

    Any thoughts appreciated.

You should be fine using the TC6. It's been used in several projects with good results, but it doesn't have a particularly spectacular high-end, IMO. The Peerless 5.25 that you chose is interesting. It seems like it's hard to get a lot of bass out of it, but the sensitivity, combined with the sloping response, should mate up well with the TC6 when using a simple crossover.

Thanks for your response. The 5.25 peerless woofer/subwoofer gets pretty good bass out of a very small ported box (4 to 6 liters). But as you noted, the sloping response should make crossover easy. But can not use normal tweeter as it drops off hard at 1500 hz or so. Hence my interest in the 2 inch peerless full range.
Not sure you could not run the woofer full range.

I used the tc6 with the ds150 crossed around 1.5k. Worked great.

I used the TC9FD as an open baffle mid/tweet with a ND105-4 in a ported box for bass. It sounds great on axis up to about 90 dB. Yes there is some top end "air" missing, but it is still a very pleasing speaker to listen to. I just don't expect or try 103 dB levels with rock.

Oh yeah, I crossed L4 around 1000-1100 Hz if I remember correctly.
