DATS V2 for measuring CD impedance on horn

I know this package is popular for measuring woofers, but is it appropriate to measure the impedance of a compression driver on a horn? Seems like it should work fine, but figured I'd ask before I buy.

    Thanks in advance,
    Francis

The measurement would reflect the Horn as well

Yup, that's exactly what I need. I have a graph of the raw driver impedance, but not the impedance when it's on the horn.

Yes it will work well for that. I have used it to measure the impedance of domes, ribbons, planars, and CD/horns.

Great! Thanks. It's on the way.

Yes, the DATS will measure impedance properly for the horn loading of a CD, and you will absolutely want to do this. A resistor jig (arta/rew jig) also works equally as well.

Thanks! I've used a resistor and a sound card before this, but I decided to splurge on DATS if it would do the job.

When I first got mine; I measured a woofer free air and incrementally as I built a folded horn, add segments around it.

It will do the job, but the DATS is literally just a USB audio Interface with the resistor built in. If you already have the resistor jig, you're not gaining any new functionality besides a little convenience.

The convenience is nice, and it will trace a calibrated graph of impedance, as I understand it. That's worth the price of admission right there.

In conclusion: got DATS, ran an impedance sweep, worked flawlessly. Thanks everybody!

Did it look kind of nasty? I just did the same with a TAD TD-2002 on a TAD Horn and it
                        looks pretty rough.
                        Guess xmax's age.

No, it was surprisingly smooth, considering TAD never intended a TD-2002 to go on an Altec 511B.

I have some 511 with Altec driver ZMA files somewhere. Are you doing a passive XO?

No, active only. A First Watt J2 feeds the TD-2002 directly.
