  • -3 way crossover design - need wiring opinions

So I've been trying to find a solution to the combination of drivers I currently have, and it's a mess. Ideally I'd like the crossover to have an 8ohm imp. , with that said, here are the drivers

    I have the followring

Woofer- 8ohm DVC I bought these by accident thinking they were SVC

    Midbasses - (2) 4ohm 6.5's

    Tweeter - 8ohm

I'm half tempted to just hook up only one voice coil on the woofer even though I'd rather not go that route. Any suggestions?

I guess if you have to use that woofer, you could wire the coils in parallel to get baffle step compensation. Obviously the impedance will be lower at those frequencies, but some amps won't mind.

After sitting down, and doing a little more playing around, I found this,

which has the low end of 4ohm or 8ohm.

Could this be my best/cheapest solution? I was pricing out caps and coils to make my own and its about the same in parts though my selection had jazten coils

Its the cheapest, but not really optimal. The crossover needs to be matched to the drivers. These generic, off-the-shelf crossovers cannot do that. They assume that the drivers impedance is a flat resistance like a resistor. Its anything but.

If you only use one coil (on the 12") it'll no longer be the bass champ (that it is).
I guess you want to run an MTM w/the mids in series?
Hard to create a good XO w/out any FR data (on the mids).
I (personally) never cared for that tweeter (but some guys don't like the "Silky").
Looks like if you run THAT 12", you'll end up needing a 4ohm amp, looks like.

I do have a 4ohm capable amp. I bought the Mids speakers on buyout and now I'm kind of kicking myself because of the lack FR data on them. Xsim cant really give me ballpark data without it.
