    A $30 inductor for a $29 woofer? Now that's a "Zinger"!

The lowest possible F3 box alignment is not always the best alignment.

I used a 16AWG air-core coil on mine, and via PE, that is the closest in spec/dcr. If you change to the Super-Q, it's still $20, and the dcr is too low. The 18AWG dcr is too high. All of this can affect tonal balance, and there were only 4 choices, IIRC, the last being a more expensive 14AWG ERSE perfect lay. I listed the best candidate for the job, and copper costs money.

Just took some measurements of how I voiced them out back in April. These are the first measurements as a system. Honestly, they aren't perfect and likely far from it, but they are enjoyable. The way the tweeter rolls off gradually takes the bite out of the transition, and the left channel measures worse than it sounds. Also of note- they were not measured in the same place in my living room. There could very well be some room interference.

House of cards. My Zinger interpretation. They are shorter and deeper, same width and volume. My vision is even more retro than Wolf's original. I will start my own thread after a bit of progress. I was able to get them out of two 2'x4' handi panels, after I brought the height down to 15.75". 15.75" x 14" x 11.5".

Excited to see your build of these djg! I see that you are making room for the Zingers and getting rid of some other gear.

My impression of the "4 (edges) on the Floor (standing)" cabinet is below just in case anyone was wandering approximate dimensions. Numbers are internal dimensions, so you'll have to add the bracing and the cabinet around those numbers. Please ask if you have any questions.

Hi Wolf , keen to give these a go floorstanding. Built the classix 2.5 and we bottomed out the woofers the first night. They do alright for TV but the music later in the evening was too much for them (think large room, few beers, 165w Sony receiver) . Do you think these Zingers would take a bit more power than the classix 2.5?

More than Classix 2.5 is likely, but drunk ear-splitting levels with clipping amps are never good for any speaker. If you want a security guard, add a 1A slow-blow fuse on the positive input. I was able to get my stand-mounts pretty darn loud, and no stress was heard.

I know, i know. Speakers dont last long around here. Thanks for the fuse tip. Ill give it a go and report back. Does port position matter ? Im gonna go tube so will have to have a bend in it or go bottom firing with feet.

Ports are preferably out the back. I did side firing because mine will be close to walls behind them. Bottom is okay as you suggest.

Ear splitting late night drunk music. Sounds like it should be a song.

I'm new to this and am in the process of building the Zingers. I think they will fit well into my living room. My Advents I had were 10" 2-way speakers. Is there a reason when I see 10 woofer in a DIY speaker it's in a 3 way arrangement. Could 10" 2 way speakers be done with a reasonable budget?

There are a lot of reasons 10" 2-ways are rare birds that I won't go into right here in this thread. I've only seen a couple commercial designs and 2-3 DIY that did it justice.
Just suffice to say that 8" 2-ways are difficult in most aspects to get right. Being as such, 10" 2-ways are not impossible, but are very close to it.

Wolf Starting to get bits together. Does the bend in the port effect velocity/resonance? or doesn't matter ?
