  • Grill airflow considerations?

I sketched a grill for a 12" subwoofer. Sub's capable of 12mm xmax. The grill elements are 0.125" x 0.7" spaced 0.266" apart. I've seen grills with seemingly more restrictive openings, but not as thick. I don't know if that 0.7" matters.

It won't have any effect. You can't model it in a standard box program, but you can in HornResp. There's a loss of sensitivity above 350Hz, but that's of no concern with a sub.

        Alright, good to know.

We did try some 8" subs without the crossover and the high-end sounded surprisingly not terrible, on axis. Not good, but I was surprised there were swaths of response up to 15k.

But these 12s will be crossed at 70-100 I think.
