  • Why were the Dayton empty speaker cabinets discontinued? I MISS THEM!

I built a few nice designs using the pre-made Dayton cabinets, they were great values- why were they discontinued? Will they ever be brought back?

I liked them, too. Perhaps they couldn't make and sell them for a low enough price to get good sales volume. A lot of DIYers making small speakers are very budget conscious. I'll note they still make unfinished subwoofer knock-down cabinets. A lot more sales volume inherently, and people are willing to spend a few bucks on subs.

In searching for a supplier they weren't able to find one that could meet their criteria. I've been working with another company to fill the void. We'll announce here if the project moves forward.

I'm sure they were a headache in shipping and storage too.

That would be my guess. Shipping/storage/and budget conscious shoppers with a diy attitude.

I believe the previous supplier was also having QC issues to where the mounting holes weren't lining up, etc.

The price sky rocketed over time too. They were probably 2x the cost when they were discontinued versus when they were first sold.
