Neither would I, a 6.5" is sufficient, even a robust 5", but with the right tweeter capable of going low enough you could use an 8".
The Eminence Alpha-8A would probably be a better match for that tweeter
Yes, in a PA speaker. I wouldn't use the Alpha 8 in a studio monitor either.

Why bother with stands? Just strap them to your head

The actual physical presence of the Zingers was a bit more than I expected. I do swap several pairs of diy TMs into the PC 2.1 system, from 3" to 5" woofers. I adjust the cross to the DSP Dayton sub as needed. Boosters for the stands as needed.

For a very well proven studio monitor, which also happens to be very affordable, I would highly recommend Paul Carmody's Hitmakers. I built a pair and was thoroughly impressed. Very flat FR and highly detailed without being bright or over-analytical.

The Hitmakers use an aluminum 7" Dayton Woofer. The box size is more reasonable for monitor use than Wolf's Zingers. Kit available. Out of stock oops.
