Epique Subwoofer Release Date?

Does anyone know when the new Epique 5-1/2' and 7" subwoofers are scheduled to be released? Have there been any specs published yet?

I didn't know they were coming out with Epique subs... pretty cool looking. What is that, 18mm of one-way excursion there? Yikes!

So where do they slot in? Clearly the 5 1/2" is a competitor with Tang Band's 1138 sub at least size-wise... but cost-wise, the Dayton would be MUCH more expensive, like more than double the price I'd suspect. The Epique 5 1/4" woofer is $220 and the 8" is $270, these subs have to cost at least that much, probably a bit more I'd wager.

Tom - I would agree on the price expectations. The construction of these certainly looks to warrant the "epique" moniker.

It looks like there have been a few posts dating back almost a year about these on the PE Instagram page, so I was surprised that I didn't find much discussion of them on the forum. Hopefully someone from PE can give us the scoop on availability.

Maybe this is related to the 'big reveal' that PE teased several weeks ago.

The design of these new Epique drivers has been finalized and all the tooling is complete. So, they will be entering production any day now.
We hope to begin receiving stock in a few months (barring any unexpected delays).

You will probably be pleasantly surprised by the price, they will be much less than your current guesses.

I can say the Xmax on the 5" has been measured at a little over 16 mm (measured using Klippel at 70% Bl).
It is a monster, capable of just over 100 dB at 30Hz in a 0.5 cubic foot box (OK... the port gets big, so that will drive up the box size up a bit... a passive radiator would be more appropriate).

Actually, they are both going to have dual 4 ohm coils.
So, yes.

Also, we still call them "subwoofers", but just wait until you see the frequency response.

Wow dual 4 ohm coils! I hope there is a 2 ohm Dayton amp down the road.
When I saw them awhile back, I was thinking stout mini monitor with low reach.

They are underhung, right?
