Dependent on the mill producing the MDF the weight will vary a bit. The MDF I get around my area weighs 75-80 pounds per sheet at least. A little while back I found a cool PDF about MDF from across the Atlantic. I found some useful information from it.

yea, or so I thought. The number I had in my head was 52lb per cubic foot.

        that works out like:

        49" x 97" 4753 sq" X .75" = 3564.75 cubic" / 1728 = 2.0629340277777777777777777777778 cubic' X 52 lb cubic' = 107.27256944444444444444444444444 lbs

I'mmna have to take a scale to HD and weigh a few sheets to see what's really for sale

I seem to calculate this every now and then, to compare with the density of Baltic Birch ply, then lose where left it... ;-) and do it again... My method is to get a moderate sized piece, weigh on bathroom scale, measure and calculate the volume, divide, etc... Tada.. the density

Sorry to not have handy my last round. I just looked at the figure in the Boxy Cad spreadsheet... they have .753 g per cubic centimeter. Sounds around what I've been getting. The BB ply I've been using clocks in about .62 - .65 g/cc3.

When I calculated it many years ago, it was just under 100 lbs. As has been said, it's weight will vary between manufacturers.

                so at .753g/cm^3:
                (.753g/cm^3) X (1cm^3/.061024in^3) X (96inX48inX.75in) X (2.2lb/1000g)=93.8lbs

                  Actually it's much heavier.

Or it seemed that way when I dropped it on my toe.

The last sheet of 3/4" MDF I got from HD sure didn't seem like it was 100+ lbs. The quailty of the MDF I get at HD seems to vary quite a bit.

I'll put some on a scale later and see what it comes out as.
