  • Ideas for separate tweeter enclosure

I'd like to try a design where the tweeter is mounted separately on top of the enclosure (to align acoustic centers without a complex baffle), so I'm seeking ideas on creative, simple enclosures for a large-flange dome tweeter (Vifa DAG25 or Seas TDFC). The best look would be a sphere, I was thinking perhaps a perfectly hemispherical dinner bowl with the tweeter mounted on a round plate of MDF that fits just inside?

Any other creative ideas greatly appreciated, think outside the box!

I believe this is thinking outside the box.

        Re: Thanks!

I looked through here already, but did not notice that these wood bowls come in different sizes! The 5" should be perfect!

heh, two of the 11" bowls with the right 10" drivers in them, two 8" bowls with the right 6.5" mid, and one of the 5" bowls with a tweeter would make an awesome budget WWMTM with almost no construction time whatsoever! I think we're onto something...
Isn't there a company that make a ridiculously expensive system similar to this, with each driver embedded in a sphere attached to a series of articulating arms?
