several of my designs in my signature below.

this has become one of my favorite speakers to give as gifts... small footprint, people like the tall, narrow design, you can get drivers/filters cost under $50 a pair with the B3N (the tang band's have noticeably better performance than the B3N's, though), and people are always surprised by the bass that can come out of a 3" speaker in a well-designed enclosure. seems like a good project for beginners too. there's a page out there somewhere where someone did a nice comparative analysis of this design with several different full-range drivers.

PE should overhaul their project showcase and clear out the unbuildable projects, or at least archive them.

Then they should link to these sites from their main page, even if they limited links to Dayton based designs, or brands sold by PE.

How could that be bad for business? In the short time I have been on this forum, a steady stream of new builders arrive with questions about some old project on the showcase that has obsolete drivers, or some weird design found on the web. They are, as I was, ignorant of all the great designs out there. It took months of surfing to find the designs I know now. I continually find more. Why make it so hard? PE sells speaker building components, they should show where to put their products.

Since it doesn't look like this is going to become a sticky, I'm not going to bother to further update the original post.

Rich doesn't seem to like stickies, which is understandable... stickies can tend to clutter up a forum.

    No big deal.

I am not sure if this would qualify for the list but as a beginner I found the information most helpful.

Mostly I just wanted to add something to a "Grand" post.
    Thank You for it.

I don't have a website with write ups, but for anyone interested, there is quite a bit of information about my projects in my Albums here:

Just sent a PM to Rich... I'll leave all suggested links in the original post for now (yes, including yours, Jed), then remove them if Rich would prefer that the links with commercial offerings be removed.

I for one hope that we can leave sites like Jed's in.

Still have a few more to add from everyone's suggestion when I get a chance.

Thanks for everyone's help in putting this together!

If you are affraid, send an email to Rich and have him decide which sites he feels are inappropriate. Then remove them. Don't edit a great thread until you know that the sites are offensive to PE.
Ok... I was just concerned that said links might be why they're reluctant to make this a sticky.

I didn't realize you had me on your list in the first post ;)

    I shouldn't have said anything.

I'm being a little sarcastic. I think I came to this same conclusion a few months back regarding the need for a sticky completed designs thread. This type of reference could increase sales...

    .
Agreed... more than half of the parts in my kits and free designs come from PE.

My decision to offer some commercial kits has it's downsides. Not being able to participate in DIY competitions, post links to my site, etc. may be some of them. I guess it depends on one's perception.

By the way I hear zaph is going commercial soon as well. Time will tell how that influences one's view of his site as commercial, purely informative, or both. Troels G. has a custom driver for sale and collaborates with Jantzen Audio. I think it can work both ways. Just my opinion and if people object to my link, I'd be happy to edit my post and delete it.

Maybe I can link to all the driver tests and free designs and not the main page at my site. But then again folks linked to Linkwitz's site, Music and Design, ESP, Planet 10, and a few others where products are sold. Are you on the fence for those sites as well? I do not mean to put anyone on the defense, so please take this post as just reaching out and offering a counterpoint. I'm open to suggestions. I understand I'm walking a fine line here.

    Regards,

    Jed

Why's that? By having these links, people get inspired to build speakers... so they buy parts from PE... this can only increase their business.

That's why I'm trying to limit it to free designs... and why I'm a bit on the fence with sites like Jed K's, since in addition to free designs it is also a commercial site... fantastic site though it is.
