That would be such a monumental undertaking. Doesn't seem practical.

      I don't think I've seen a link to Mark K's pages at:

A good idea nevertheless. There were new designs coming left and right when I first found this site ~2005 through ~2008 and then things started to taper little by little - and since they were not buyouts many of them are still usable. Be a shame for them not to see light of day.

              Hi J-Lin,

Welcome to PETT. I think you'll find one of the most respectful forums on the web. Your contributions, insights and experience is appreciated. Be sure to start a thread that details your latest build. Curious minds want to know. :D

Also, would you mind editing your post to include a link to your site? :o Thanks.

Sweet! I'd never knew he had a front page like that in all the digging I'd done. Even the one I've been looking for for a while is on there too. Thanks again!Maybe someone already noted this, but the link above does not work for me unless I delete the /index.htm and go to the root.

                      Guys, halt everything.

DIY speakers are a pointless endeavor.

Please quit and find a new hobby.

                      The new guy has spoken.

What is the point of this post? It is certainly long, but it isn't informational, in that it provides no evidence, and doesn't seem to address the fact that we have several talented designers here who do have measurement gear and expertise. If you wish to offer well reasoned critiques of well implemented DIY designs I am sure you would find an audience, as for the most part the people in this community are interested in learning and transmitting knowledge. The knowledge they provide allows a novice to build almost anything (I have not seen a single design that is out of the depth of someone with basic building skills and some shop space). Whether or not you have any knowledge (which to be frank is not in evidence in your post either), is made irrelevant by the fact that you do not wish to participate in our community. All of which leads me to believe that I am feeding a (seriously long winded) troll.

If you only had five more bullet points I would suspect you of being Ridakis

Hmmm.... I'll let you guys "THINK" about that one for a bit... because when I first read it I initially said to myself... Hmmm... I agree with that and that and maybe that.... Hmmm.... not so sure about that?!?!? Definitely DON'T believe THAT is true! Wow, I thought that I could relate to this guy at first but then he started talking "crazy!?!?!" and needs to learn from the rest of us here to find out what really matters when it comes to DIY speaker building.

Hmmm.... I wonder why Roman always tries different things, puts up Pop Quizzes that only a few people respond to and even fewer understand his "motives" ...and now you guys are probably wondering if I posted that info above?!?!?? I'm not sure, you'll have to check my previous post... If you can find it????

Do you see the point yet???? If you don't question things, test things, experience things, then you'll never learn or even be able to honestly accept somebody "else's" opinion!

I used to really enjoy contributing to this forum both because I learned so much from the "experts" and enjoy teaching others (as a way of paying back) but soon found that it took up most, if not all, of my "free time" ...which I found out, isn't so "free" after all!?!?!

Anyways... I'm so glad that people like Jeff Bagby are still around to... "carry the torch" so to speak, because it can get a bit frustrating around here, even though most of the contributors are very kind, gracious, and intelligent.... I've said that on many occasions and really appreciate "apprentices" like Jay Kim and Dan N. and friends like Wayne N. and... oh crap, I'll be here all NIGHT if I keep going!!!!! :o:p:rolleyes::eek:

It's late and I'm a bit tired (of trying to figure "everything out myself" :( ...well, not really!;):D) so I'm really glad that there are posts like "this" which make you question, what you "thought" you knew... and ya know, it can get a bit confusing at times!!! ;)

Good Night and God Bless!!! ...and of course... "Thank You ALL!!!" :D ...just remember that you learn more from mistakes (or a-holes) than you do????!?!?!?!? From being confused??? I may just be tired of "thinking too much!"

Hmmm... I wonder if my face looks as "goofy" as those little "emoticons" when I type this?!?! :p ...but thank God that I can type as fast as I can talk! Good Night... and try to learn from each other, because my dad taught me (and the Air Force taught him, as well as his parents and brothers) that the best way to learn something is to try to "teach" it!

Now who wants to build the Microbe "2.0" using those awesome NEW paper RS drivers that I've been asking for since the original "metal" RS drivers came out... Not me, I'm too busy with other "projects" ...too happy with my current speakers and too tired to do "everything for everyone" ...Sometimes you gotta be "Cruel to be Kind!" ...took me a while to figure that one out! :D ...just please don't ask ME for help, when there are so many other friends who are much more experienced and qualified! ;):D

Hmmm... Now how many of YOU are wondering if Jeff Bagby "set up the bait" above??!?!?! It is nearly impossible to tell, sitting behind our computers (or cell phones... I'm not a fan, never owned one and have a Master's Degree in Wireless Communications... How does THAT make sense!?!?!?!).

Alright, I'm tired of confusing myself... but it is great when people finally start to THINK and APPRECIATE all that have TAUGHT them.... Good Night! ...or did I say that already?!?!? Not sure, you'll have to "verify" that for me... Enuff, said! Sweet dreams and don't let those nasty "Microbes" scare you! ;):D

Wow, first post and we get that. I'm trying not to be irritated. I do not see any relevance or an "existing project" in the post. If, maybe, possibly, someone might try to make a commercial endeavor out of the DIY efforts, then a glint of truth in there...somewhere. I do this because I get much better overall SQ, which is the goal, for me anyway. I think it's still very valid overall than dropping thousands on some over-hyped brand name. A 3-way for your first project? DIY cost vs what commercial speakers cost? All an individual needs to do (and most don't have the opportunity) is to work behind the counter at a real audio/stereo emporium, not BB, Fry's or Magnolia, for many years and be exposed to the many brands of speakers out there. From 3-figures-a-pair to over 6-figures-a-pair. I've learned that speakers are the most misunderstood part of the chain, so non-DIY efforts are laced with hyperbole and marketing yak-yak because consumers don't understand much of it. You can obviously see it with in-house measurements and just taking something apart and looking at how it's constructed and the internal components. OK, I got that out...and I didn't say anything about motorcycles! Doing better...good reply, lunch.
