Are there any 8" drivers capable of handling HT and music demands in a medium (11.5' by 18', with half wall open in to kitchen) sized room?

What is the baddest 8" out there?

    You only have two dimensions. 11.5 x 18 x ?
No matter where you go, there you are.

      Soundsplinter?
      Digital Designs?

The DD is more based to car audio though.....still quite nasty. The 1508 is a beast.

Sundown Audio also has a pretty radical 8" sub.....
      Builds - C-Killa - Speedsters - LithMTM - Talking Sticks - Pocket Rockets - Khanspires - Dayton RS Center - RS225/28A - Kairos - Adelphos - SEOS TD12X - Dayton 8 - Needles - 871S - eD6c - Overnight Sensations - Tritrix (ported) - Lineup F4 - Stentorians - The Cheapies - Tub Thumpers - Barbells - Tuba HT - Numerous subwoofers - probably missing a few...... :p

You might check out the subs from JL Audio. Look under mobile on their site.

Is it just me or does your subject line sound like the title of an adult film? :p

A TM with a 6.5" and a single 10-12" subwoofer will fill the space nicely. The single sub will get you loads more than going with 8" in the mains.

The Usher 8955A or the dayton RS225 are good candidates ..
                I am trolling you.

Sorry if I was unclear, I am looking for an 8" subwoofer, not mains.

Those titles seem to get more looks, go figure. Just like my other thread "3-Way Anyone?"

                          Re: 8 Inches of Fury

                          Why 8"?

While it could give you a small box a 10" will generally be more efficient and a 12" even more so and will go deeper than a poor little 8.

What are the size restrictions for the sub enclosure?

Both of the Tang Bands are supposed to be pretty good. They are not in the Soundsplinter's league, but they are A LOT cheaper. Creative Sound's Trio 8 is also supposed to be pretty good (it is 8 ohm though). It's got XBL-2 to boot. Soundsplinter also has some buyout drivers they call "orphan eights". They are supposed to be similar to the original 8's, but cheaper. All of these have varied TS parameters....just depends on what you are going to do with them.
