Re: Flex Your PCD Mettle:
Waveguides received via FedEx - check!
Parts ordered for an L/C/R set of SR's - check!
To confirm: What is the forward axis of the Ewave SR? Am I reading the graph right in that it's -0.49 degrees? Most of the other designs are 2-3 degrees, which coincides with a listening position of 12-13 feet (which is spot on for me)...
I plan on flush mounting the waveguide into the baffle, and making a double thick baffle with additional ring to allow the woofer to be front mounted, with an appropriate woofer setback and a roundover of the baffle edge of the woofer hole. I can make the woofer setback anything from 0 to 1.25", just trying to make sure it's got the right steering/axis. Fun with routers! :D
BTW, where do you find the 3 strand sheathed wire that attaches the L-pad to the x-over? HD/Lowes?
Best,
Christopher

The forward lobe is asymmetric and upwardly biased, which is why I left the forward axis just below center.

[It's running low now, tho.... ;) ]

So I am targeting 3/4" between the back of the WG lip and the front of the woofer basket rim, right?

Once the waveguide is flushed, I intend to do a 3/4" roundover on the woofer opening, which will impinge a bit on the waveguide edge, center bottom, as well. To accomplish that, I'll just rout it with the recessed waveguide in place....

Oh, Me Soooo Horn-y
Well, I finally got the new mains up and running last night.
If this is what entry level honk and nulls sound like ...... I'm diggin' it. :D
My First Crossover
Funny how it took me 3 evenings to do what you did in a few minutes on your youtube video.
Soundcheck
Time To Jam
They certainly sound “different” than my old Dome Midrange 3-way. Much warmer, more detailed midrange. Pretty good punch out of the Pro-Woofer. Doesn’t dig real deep, but my subs should take care of that.
Heard some things in Dark Side Of The Moon that I never had before. (Clare Torry whispering "I never said I was frightened of dying" at about 3:30 on Great Gig in the Sky)
With my old speakers my “get down” Receiver volume was between 55 and 63 ….. these will run your a** out of the room on 45.
55 Hurts.
My room, by design, has no windows, or for the time being any electronic sources of light, so when you turn off the lights its pitch black. Thats how I listened to Dark Side Of The Moon last night. But what was weird was you couldn’t really pinpoint the direction the sound was coming from. It kinda just filled the room with sound …… An anonymous wall of digital sound ….. cant wait to power up the subs now.
I want to thank Zilch, Pete, and everyone else here that held my hand through this rewarding learning process.Last edited by Flacjunky; 09-04-2010, 01:11 AM.

Re: Flex Your PCD Mettle:
Nice Job Flac! I'd consider a bit of room treatments in the way of some acoustic foam on the ceiling around the Ewaves. I have almost the exact CC speaker in my HT and the midbass was a bit boomy from boundry gain and ripple but cleaned up nicely with the foam. It won't be as dramatic in your case with the directivity of these as my CC is a dome tweeter and mid so not much directivity there.

Your project is linked from Page #1.
Beautiful job!
Good work on the crossovers; it's them long screws took all that extra time.... ;)

Incidently, is part of the SR Low Pass crossover baffle step compensation, that I probably didn't need due to being wall mounted?

Is your cab split into two chambers up there? If so, what is the volume of each?

I know you have a narrow room and no toe in, but have you tried tweeters to the outside?
