A co-worker turned me on to the Necromantix. I thought they were fun.

Well, I've been wondering what psychobilly sounds like...turns out it's not for me. Thanks for the links, though...

Uh, yeah. I love it. I took me a bit to stumble upon it but it was kind of like a disease running its course. It all started with the Stray Cats when I was a kid. Blew me away like a hurricane to hear such great swinging sound. That kept me going until I ran headlong into Social Distortion in college. More bluesy and punk but damn if it didn't rock my world. Then it came to pass that I was offered a ticket to see the good Reverend Horton Heat. That was like a mainline tap straight to the heart for me. Eventually I really started digging around for this strange beast called "psychobilly". Holy. Schnitzel. I love this particular video from Zombie Ghost Train. It's like the Stray Cats meet Sammy Terry.

There's a lot of bands in between those I named. They were just some big milestones for me.

And for what its worth, the Brian Setzer Orchestra was one of the most amazing shows I have ever been privileged to see. Never will I hear a hollow body guitar again and not recall that night. Gretsch Nashville FTW, baby.

P.S. And if you don't know who Sammy Terry is, well then you are just an uncool poopyhead. Who probably isn't from Indiana... Anyway, heeeeeeeere's Sammy! The man who made me the D-movie watching fiend I am today. Him and my Uncle Dave, who let me know it was okay to be a night owl.

Hmmph. I'm not from Indiana, nor am I an uncool poopyhead. I grew up in SoCal, and we had our own introducer of D movies, the original Mistress of the Dark, Elvira!! (Yes, she was a local LA phenomenon before she went national...):D

It's kind of like a strange cross between Alice Cooper, the Beach boys and the Stray cats, with a little of the Ramones thrown in....perhaps fun for a song at a time, but I doubt I could listen to a whole disc of it. Somehow makes me think of the movie Pulp Fiction.

The name psychobilly reminds me of a classic strange bit by Conan O'Brien - "Embryonic Rockabilly Polka-Dotted Fighter Pilots" ;) Conan should have never agreed to go prime time, because his humor wasn't.
