This may be an interesting candidate for eWave minis as well

Say, there's no way to model a WWTWW, is there? A WTW is simple enough, of course, but I cant seem to find a way to jury rig the crossover so that it can handle 2 parallel groups of 2 speakers in series (or vice versa :p ). If that is my intent, since the equivalent impedance is the same as one by itself, should I just model as one woofer and add 6 dB? of course, then the verticals would be off a bit...but it's better than nothing.

The Beta 8A is looking good.
                Shudda got those! Haha.

FYI, Neumann goes elliptical in their mini monitors:
                http://www.neumann-kh-line.com/neuma...nitors_KH120D#
They may be made by K&H. An interesting baffle, though they are going the Genelec route with a dome tweeter in the WG:

Genelecs are not my favorites, though I have not heard the Neumanns.

Interestingly, we're very much back where you started out with XD120 a year or more ago, but for the notch filter, which we now see 18-Sound also uses. We didn't have PCD or the requisite skilz to make it happen back then, is all.

I'm drawing up the schematic and parts list; I consider this one a wrap for now*. Others may be able to do better, but I want to move on to other implementations of what we've learned here.

*It's pretty kickass presently, and clearly runs past the OS guru's 8"er for less than 1/5 the cost. Outstanding to complete is adding ports and optimizing the low end, but the rest of it has "benchmark" standing written all over it. The verticals are delicious, and the forward axis right where you want it to be for your mini-monitors.

The next one is mainstream (non-buyout), and will appear over there, as will the Delta Pro-8B/XD125 variant of this design....

I'm looking to build a pair of the Mini Ewaves with the Beta 8A woofers. PE is out of stock on the iron core inductors #266-554. Can I substitute the Jantzen air core inductor #255-266 which should be in stock very soon but at a slightly higher cost?

I wouldn't. With a DCR of 0.80 Ohms, that's more than three times the insertion loss. Even the 15 Ga. 255-430 at 0.50 is higher than I would go, and the Super Q is more than twice the price.

Order your parts having PE backorder the correct inductors and they'll automatically send them to you with free shipping when they come in. In the meantime, you can build your cabs and crossovers and get everything mounted and ready to go when that occurs, within 2 weeks, typically, in my experience.

I figured up a reasonable preliminary tuning for Beta-8A in these 0.5233 cuft. KLH-24 cabs using BB6P:

                              2 x 2" ducts @ 5.375" long, typical fill,
                              Fb = 66.57 Hz, F3 = 83.88 Hz, F6 = 67.0 Hz,
                              110.3 dB w/ 44W max RMS at F6

Heavy fill and tuning lower doesn't accomplish anything but lost power handling.

I'm running them closed box with a sub at 120 Hz right now, but once ported, 80 Hz is going to be fine....
