did some simming yesterday and this morning. both fr were created with response mod but they both have such a nice flat fr my confidence is high.
have drivers on hand but will be a while before thaw allows time in the shop.
woofer 4LR at 1500 4th order electrical. tweeter 4LR at 1800 3rd order electrical. 3ohms on the tweeter. this is obviously ported. i took out for bsl but forgot to put back room gain. should be an f3 of 70 or so and f6 of 33.

In your modeling, how big of a cabinet did you specify? Any thoughts on component costs?

i have $105 into drivers. crossover parts just under $100 using dayton metallized poly and jantzen 18awg air core inductors. 40 litres. 36"tall.

The dip in power responce at x-over is a little lower than it can be. That is a capable tweeter, try crossing it 100, 200Hz lower to make the gap smaller. It is ceetinly not bad, I am more picking nits here...

The other thing is the tweeters responce out to 10K or so. You get a good rise in both power, and acoustic responce. That may get a bit much between 4 & 10K. Try a zobel to flatten out the rising respince. If it appers to roll off the top end, you can parallel a small cap and resistor to raise the top end only back up a bit.

Overall, it really does look good!

good advise thanks. the phase looks nice above the x, what about below, should that be of concern. the response would only come up a little.
any other thoughts.

I wouldn't worry about it, Mike. It's an 8" 2-way after all...

Lowell-
It looks good on paper. What I see is possibly a premature rolloff in the bass though. You got the frd/zma files from 'Brian', right? I sent them to him so you could have them. If not, I have them also if you want them.

What's the schematic look like?

i made it with response modler. i spliced BSL but forgot to combine the room gain. they pretty much cancelled each othe out.

Is C10 supposed to 'not be there'? If so, swap in a 99999uF value. Otherwise- it's waaaayyyyy too large for a tweeter cap.

You could send your files to me if you want... That shouldn't take but a minute to see.

Personally- I would try the files I sent you modified in RM, and see if things get any better.

You have to redo some work, Lowell. Your Z offset should be negative.

I will admit, I did that too recently, and need to update the Microtonnes thread...
