  • The end of an era

Apparently, Jim Marshall passed away. Certainly a legend in sound!

Another legend passing. Marshall was as "instrumental" in the sound of rock and roll as any other. RIP.

As a guitarist that has owned a bunch of Marshall amps in my day I can say he will be missed.

I'll never forget the first time I played through a real Marshall. I was in a music store in England of all places. It was only a little combo amp with 2x12s. But only a few strokes with the pick and it was this amazing, thick, full, vibrant sound! Just like on the records! Amp modelers just aren't the same (though I can get pretty close with an old SansAmp and a bit of compression and EQ)
Isn't it about time we started answering rhetorical questions?
