I was going to get seven to go with all my equipment, but they only had six on hand and I like a matched system. I guess I'll have to spend all that hard-earned cash on something else like magic bricks and crystals...

Honestly, can you plug that into anything that it won't yank off the shelf? I doubt it bends very well.

So....what's the purpose of doing this? What is this incessant need to bash others for enjoying an aspect of a HOBBY that you don't particularly ascribe to? I will never understand this continued antagonism.

You probably know that you can only find dinky, non-audiophile, solid-core wires running from your breaker box to your wall outlet. Investing $3000 for the last few feet of the way only shows the buyer is not too savvy. One way society enacts limits on a particular behavior is to shame it publicly, so that's what we are doing (to the best of our varying abilities).

If the manufacturer really wants people to buy in to their technology, they might want to invest more effort into some testing and less into marketing with hyperbole like "dramatic performance improvements" and "startling performance effects". There have been slick salesmen around for a long, long time making promises such as these, and people are aware of this.

                      Have a nice day.

Re: Gaiz I got sum new geeer

Thank you for your polite response, Charlie. But for me, it's not enough. People around here are perfectly aware that there are a small percentage of people who frequent this board who (believe they can) hear differences between things like wire, capacitors, resistors....and the list goes on. While I can understand why people might come to the same conclusion that you did regarding power cords, there are plenty of people out there who have some mighty fine sounding audio systems that disagree with you....strongly. While I wouldn't argue that there are plenty of companies out there that really do use b.s. to market stuff, some of those same companies make some decent "sounding" gear that while not engineered by using test gear, multiple EE PhD's, they did indeed do their "research" much like Roger Skoff did in the article I posted (http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue66/skoff.htm) a while back. The head of the company mentioned above (Shunyata) has even made an effort to quantify his efforts and to relate his measurements to audio perception. I honestly don't care whether people hear the differences between different audio items or not. For me, it's one of the things that make this hobby endlessly entertaining and confounding. When somebody like Wolf (whom I hold in the highestenvy them: they don't have to worry about being conflicted on spending their last dime to buy that teflon cap for the coupling capacitor on their uber esoteric 300B amp. I'm a poor (literally) slob (never, ever....ask LouC) of a professional musician who's VERY passionate about music and doesn't have the least regret about spending money on audio that I shouldn't have because it brought me just that one step closer to bring what I'm fortunate enough to LIVE into my home.

                        Cheers

I can buy three 1.2m lengths of 500kcm cable for less.....it will be a bit less flexible, though!

The call for civility is understandable. The immense price escalation seen in high end audio over the past decade or so has been lamented by many audiophiles, and most humor, as reflected in these posts, has a basis in truth. As the tools for system analysis have become more affordable (e.g. Dayton Omnimic), it has become much easier to identify and correct the most significant sources of sound coloration - the loudspeaker and listening room. Many audiophiles don''t recognize this and search endlessly for solutions that make little or no difference in the end. Can a $3000 power cord yield comparable audible improvements to a $3000 investment in listening room design and acoustic treatment or a properly implemented subwoofer?

Wolf has credibility. There are a few members here whose opinion I take as truth, from long time experience reading their posts. The product link that OP posted does not evoke that feeling in me. I guess it's still OK to think people are foolish and ignorant, just don't say it. Well, I didn't. But I do like reading these threads, they reinforce my prejudices. And I don't take them too seriously.:D
