I already mentioned that you can send it to me and I will assemble/return ship for no cost. Better yet, send me the parts for one XO then when I ship back you can match/assemble the second.

I was in the process of trying to correlate the components in your photo (first post) with the component numbers in the diagram. Some of them are upside down (label down) so I'm using a process of elimination. I was going to post a drawing showing the components connected together. Don't think I'll work anymore on it til you advise what you want to do. Rotech's offer of help is the surest and easiest path...

Once you finally do one, you'll wonder understand how not-that-hard it is. I struggle with laying these things out as well, but once you get the hang of it, it makes sense.

I second the suggestion to take Rotech up on his offer, he's offering to not only catch you a fish, but to also teach you how to fish as well. These are a super great bunch of guys on this board who go out of their way to help someone, especially someone like yourself who's wondering if they should DIY or throw in the towel.

Have a little faith brother, you'll be glad you did.
Also, you never mentioned where you live, it is possible that someone living close by would be willing to meet with you and help you out.

Rotech is not going to abandon this forum over a few dollars worth of crossover parts, that's just silly. That is a fairly complicated crossover. Send him the parts. Make sure he knows how big the speaker cab is so he sizes the assembly appropriately. You have nothing to lose except the learning experience of doing it yourself. People do nice things for each other on this forum all the time.

I third that ROTECH is a stand up guy, but I do understand the fear as well. That is why I asked where you are located. If there is someone nearby you, I am sure they would be willing to meet with you in person, and walk you through it.

I've done the same for forum members in the past too....so have many others. It's not uncommon to run into a dude like ROTECH. If you don't take up his offer it's YOUR loss.

I agree with the sentiment, but that was maybe a little harshly said, Bryan. xsundown, I fourth (fifth?:D) the recommendation to send Ryan the parts, and let him build one (or both) for you. We're a helluva good crew around here, no one's here to rip you off.

If you DO insist on building them yourself (and there's nothing AT ALL wrong with that), do as has been pointed out and lay them out exactly as in the schematic. The end result will be large, but it'll work. And THAT, my friend, is the key.

I'm brand new to this and laying out the pieces per the schematic has been a huge help. It took a little time to get comfortable but once I become familiar with the pieces it was all down hill. I spent a fair amount of time studying others' crossovers which helped me a ton.

Keep at it! It will be worth it when hear them the first time.

I know it might seem dumb, but here's the image with the grounds removed. For me it helps to lay everything out like this, then everything that "hangs off" of the signal chain goes to ground. looks a little less cluttered.

Here is a tidbit- I do not know if it is helpful, but it is to me.... I tend to start with putting the negative or ground in the middle of the board and separating the high pass and low pass by that ground.

Start out with a rectangular crossover long end sideways and draw a line through the middle, that will be your ground or negative path then build the high pass above that line and the low pass below the line.

once you get the hang of playing with parts and how they relate to a schematic you will be doing well in no time.

If you don't want to take advantage of ROTECH's generous offer of help, I guess that's up to you. I too can understand your reaction, since you're new to the board. But someone with an established reputation on this board, is someone you can trust. If you want to know more about who he is, all you need to do is look up his profile by clicking on his name in the message he sent you. There you will see that he has posted here many times and has been a member for some time.

If you're still nervous about sending your parts to him, here's the process you'll be involved in:

It appears to me that you're probably having trouble identifying the parts you have received. I'm guessing that you're having difficulty discerning which parts correlate to the individual parts pictured in the crossover diagram. What I'm talking about is figuring out which part corresponds to R-1, which part corresponds to C-1, C-2, or C-3, etc., etc., in the diagram. If that's a big part of the difficulty you're experiencing, that's the first thing that needs to be clarified.

That can be done a couple of different ways. I tend to get drawn in to strings like this one because they're rather like working through a puzzle. So, I copied your crossover diagram, and your photo of the parts you have, pasted them in a drawing program I use, and set about labeling them R-1, R-2, etc., etc. I was able to identify many of them, but several do not show the label. Several capacitors are shown label side down; too many to identify by process of elimination.

I also noticed in your crossover diagram that two different inductors are labeled L-2. I also noticed that the value of several components don't match exactly the values shown in the diagram, but I assume that's because you had to settle for something close.

Soooo, if you want to go this route, I need to know more about your situation. First, is the problem I described above (identifying the components and labeling them R-1, R-2, etc.) a barrier for you, or do you have that all figured out? Secondly, do you have the means to solder the connections? And third, do you want to proceed?
