Re: OT: Less Money - More Time

I retired in 2003 also at age 63 (my wife retired, too, then). I had somewhat arbitrarily planned to work until I was 66, but didn't like how the bigwigs were managing the company. I took a look at our finances and determined I could afford to retire years sooner, and did. One of the best things about being retired is you don't have to go shopping for groceries, clothing, etc. or even take your car in for service, when things are crowded and busy, avoiding traffic and lines! Welcome to retirement.

Now you can find something that you want to do, and not worry so much about money. It could be very fulfilling!

Yes. I feel kind of guilty about leaving my job and will miss my co-workers. On the other hand the first half of my working career was physically demanding and I have a bad back and feet to show for it. Being able to set my own schedule is going to help.

I probably don't have enough money to retire but my wife makes more than I do and wants to work forever. I also got paid almost a years salary and paid health insurance until I'm 65 to quit. When you're almost 63 it's hard to pass up that deal.

OT: Less Money - More Time

I retired at 4 PM Friday.

I've stocked up on drivers since I anticipate not having as much money to spend but I will obviously have a lot more of time. Look for a couple of projects in the near future.
