  • what I did on my summer vacation

got a start early Saturday morning(first day of vacation). my shop is very small so I can only build one speaker at a time. at least with big floorstanders. this is where I'm headed.

build for the baffles can be seen here.http://techtalk.parts-express.com/sh...*HEAVY-PICS***
Cut all the outside pieces at once. then while building the first.I fit all the partitions and braces and doubled for the other.

sides are 3/4 mdf. the woofer cutouts have 1/2" mdf for the sub to sit on and 1" dowels to support it. I used the rss315hf to mark the holes and a forstner bit to make shallow recesses for alignment of the dowels. this section was assembled with PLPremium.

cutting the pipe for the mids was pretty simple. cutting the holes for the pipe to exit was difficult. I had to use a bunch of pl premium to fill in the gaps. some 50grit later they don't look to bad.

while I was at it, I went ahead and worked on a new cc to compliment the LR build.

together they'll will look a bit like this.

      the cc will be a series/parallel 2.5way.

That is incredible work Lowell. I am looking forward to final finish and maybe a listen this fall
Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

Super good looking, Lowell, and a lot of work to boot, but assuredly worth the effort.

Those look great Lowell. Can't wait to hear them in Iowa. Four ways? Active sub and passive wmtmw? Or all active?

The lowest possible F3 box alignment is not always the best alignment.

My intentions, at this point, it to make it a four-way for competition and 3-way plus sub for home use. A HYBRID if you will. Outboard crossovers.

Duratex says I could fill holes ect with drywall mud so, I did.

Then a good sanding and relieving the sharp edges with 150
